The Diver Library in Schaghticoke has held a songwriting workshop for kids of all ages (adults, too!) each of the last two summers. Head librarian, Nick Matulis, brings the kids together with Local 518 musicians, and they make the songs the kids write into reality. They recorded their second album this past summer. It’s called “A Universe of Stories.” The band is known as The Gigglers, and they came in to talk up the project and play the songs from the album.
…So we threw a party! And so many people came out to celebrate! We reconnected with former trustees, employees, and volunteers, learned about Diver history, sang songs with students, and shared a giant cake with our wonderful patrons. Thank you to everyone who attended, and to everyone who has made Diver Library a part of their life. We couldn’t have made it 80 years without you!
Summer 2019 was the second season that Diver Library brought our song writing workshop Let’s Make a Song to our summer reading program. We wrote, performed, and recorded songs with kids, teens, and adults. It was a hit! And guess what?! This year we had a gig! Enjoy these pictures from recording day, our gig at the UHLS Expedition Party, and the signing of CD’s for our adoring fans. Thanks to all of our supporters for the great photos!
Let’s Make a Song will be back again next summer. Please join us! In the meantime, lookout for the release of 2019’s album Let’s Make a Song: A Universe of Stories!
